Eastern Valley Teams in Provincials
A- Unity Christian finished #1 AA- Langley Christian finished #4 AAA- MEI finished #2
Each Eastern Valley division has only 1 berth to provincials. It is unfair to the other teams in the division to compete for one berth against a top 4 team in the province.
Eastern Valley number 2 could finish among the top teams in the province every year. There should at least be a play in game with another region.
The Eastern Valley is getting stronger and teams deserve a fair chance to go to the BC’s.

Totally agree. Credo Christian was ranked #2 in BC all year! Crazy to think they weren’t able to attend the last dance.
Rick Hansen and Brookswood beat MEI during the season and all 3 of them could’ve finished top 5.
Berthing needs to be fixed. Either another berth or a play in game.

Eastern Valley 4A was the weakest zone and got 2 berths. So to say eastern valley is getting stronger while others aren't is not factual. Brookswood was good but had a new player move in who got them to that point and they still had a bunch of losses to teams who weren't that great. Hansen beat MEI without their best player otherwise they hadn't done anything all year. Byrne creek missed out at 3A as well so should we be giving them 4 births now? You gotta win when it matters. In regards to wildcards, we see what happens at Junior boys with Brookswood assigning them and they don't do the best job...so thats the last thing anyone wants. Decide your season on the court instead of someone picking and choosing whos good and whos not.
Okanagan has dealt with this problem for years but the best teams will win out. Only thing that would help is to increase berths from 16 to 20 and do a wildcard tournament for those 4 but bcschool sports wont do that.... other suggestion would be to go back to the way zones were with Fraser Valley and V&D. Great tournaments that ensured the best teams got in. Regional representation with number of schools is the fairest way otherwise you got too many gatekeepers and people with egos who would rather prop up their own team instead of being fair

Brookswood lost to Byrne Creek by 40 at the Chancellor and Byrne didn't even make it to provincials.
Langley Christian beat the #2 team by 80 in the EV finals. No shot those guys are even close to being a top 2A team
Then at 4A, Mountain had a huge homecourt advantage and ended up placing 15th??
You have an argument with Unity and Credo but Credo knew all year what the deal was and they came up short.
This is what happens when your zone doesn't have a lot of schools and/or has a lot of strong teams. Someone good ends up missing out, but this happens every year, in every tier, in many zones across the province.
